Job Summary:
As a technical writer, you'll be responsible for creating simplified and engaging user content, including technical manuals, training guides, knowledge-base articles, tutorials, software and hardware documentation. With subject matter experts to guide you through the entire process, you'll make complex information accessible to employees and to our customers. In addition, you will be responsible for documenting internal policies with different teams at Fieldin, to ensure internal tribal knowledge is maintained and accessible.
A strong believer in teamwork, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary subject matter experts, contributors, and stakeholders, to bring everyone involved with the organization to a consistent level of knowledge. Your efforts will result in smooth technical communication between the company’s different departments, such as Product, R&D, and Grower Success, and our stakeholders and customers. You are passionate about new and innovative technology, about understanding the nuts and bolts and breaking down complex processes into clear blocks, tailored to the target audience. You are an expert at writing for both technical and non-technical audiences, and understand the role of the content you develop in bringing the optimal value to the customers.
This position reports to the Product Release and Training Manager.
Essential Functions:
*Plan, research, and author internal and customer-facing documentation deliverables for software and hardware products. Provide content which is technically accurate, structurally logical, stylistically compliant, and authored to suit the target audience.
*Scope content, estimate effort, flag risks and dependencies, and propose mitigations.
*Work independently, proactively, and responsibly, in close collaboration with other contributors, cross-functional teams, and the Manager.
*Consult software and technology subject matter experts to review, modify, and revise complex documentation for all departments, employees, and audiences.
*Assess and evaluate the user and employee needs and level of knowledge relevant to technical documentation.
*Interpret complex software/hardware features and functions and translate them into a concise, relevant, and readable format.
*Share progress and review technical content with complete transparency.
*Proofread and edit content created by team members and contributors.
*Integrate user-friendly content in illustrations, graphs, and infographics for enhanced user experience.
*Write, review, organize, and maintain online help content to facilitate end-users.
*Create using a uniform writing style across all media and other platforms for consistency within and outside the organization.
*Reach project milestones on time and with quality.
*Indulge in user research for feedback, revisions, and improvement in technical content.
*Work closely with our offshore teams.
Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
*3+ years of work experience in technical writing and software documentation.
*Fluent in English and Hebrew, written and oral (translate documents for US and Israel based stakeholders)
*Proficiency in word processor programs such as Microsoft Word and Google Docs.
*Communication skills suitable to a large, complex, diverse, and dynamic work environment.
*Excellent writing skills, including the ability to suit style to content, write accurately and concisely, prioritize and triage feedback, comply with a style guide, and self-edit for language accuracy, style compliance, and minimalism.
*Adaptable to change and able to transition between assignments quickly and effectively.
*Ability to multitask, apply effective time management skills, and uphold project priorities.
*Quick learner who is able to gather and analyze information and context related to projects and deliverables from various sources including meeting discussions.
*A real team player who can focus on quality content, excellent execution, and teamwork, while maintaining a positive, proactive, and results-driven attitude.
*Healthy analytical and critical thinking skills.
*This position is remote but may require occasional travel to the company’s office locations.
